Fruit Drink Friday

Happy Friday everyone! I'm celebrating today (and my first weekend with basically no classes left) with this blood red deeeliciouss smoothie. First I put some strawberry-orange-banana juice in the blender as a base, and then I added in some watermelon and a banana and blended it all together. It was pretty peachy colored, but then I added a whole bunch of frozen berries and blended those in. And then it turned this color, and not to mention frosty and thick.

Fruit Drink Friday

I was feeling a little under the weather this week, and so I was in a juices-packed-with-vitamin-C sorta mood. After guzzling more orange juice than I think I could handle, I switched to grapefruit juice, and made this delicious, simple smoothie.

What's Inside:
Grapfruit Juice
1 frozen banana
1 cup frozen strawberries

I had it in the morning, and it was sweet, but it also had a zing to it. It made me feel better and made me wide awake for a day of classes!

Lots of watermelon (I cut up an entire baby watermelon and used maybe about half of it in this)

Fruit Drink Friday

When my mom brought me back to school after Thanksgiving break, she left a lot of fruit behind with me - finally enough variety to make a fruit drink! Here's what's inside:
  • Watermelon
  • Strawberries
  • Raspberries
  • Blackberries
  • Banana
  • Frozen Berries

Fruit Drink Friday

What's Inside:
watermelon
banana
strawberries
frozen berries

Tip: My mom gave me this one. To make a fruit drink without adding any extra fruit juice, just blend items sequentially, based on how water-based they are. So when I made this fruit drink, I first blended just the watermelon. Then I added the banana and strawberries into the watermelon juice. Finally, I blended in the frozen berries.

Fruit Drink Friday

Here's what's inside this week's drink:
Watermelon
Frozen Berries
Nonfat Vanilla Yogurt
Fresh Ginger

I usually try to make my fruit drinks 100% juice, but I had this after working out, and wanted to add a little protein, so I added the yogurt. It worked since there weren't already too many ingredients, and it turned the drink into this really nice pink color! Also, the ginger added a little extra kick, which tasted great, and not to mention that ginger is great for the digestive system!

Fruit Drink Friday

What's Inside
Beet & Carrot Juice
Frozen Berries
Fresh Strawberries
Cantaloupe
Frozen Mango
Banana
Yogurt

I usually do 100% fruit smoothies, but on the day I made this, I was working in the morning, so I decided to add in the yogurt to make a drink that would keep me full for longer. It worked!

Fruit Drink Friday

So this is a new feature I'm starting called Fruit Drink Friday. One of my favorite kitchen creations is the fruit drink, which is basically a concoction of a whole bunch of different fruit that I have in my kitchen, blended into a frosty cold smoothie drink. I make this a couple times a week, usually for breakfast, so I'll post one each Friday.

Here's what I used this week:
1/2 cup of beet and purple carrot juice (from Trader Joe's)
cantaloupe
watermelon
frozen berry medley (also from TJ's)

I realized when I was half finished drinking it that I forgot to put in a banana, but regardless it was sweet and tasty!
